In conjunction with World Sustainability Day, the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) and the SDG Secretariat organized the “BEDB X SDG Recycling Drive-Thru” at Kontena Park Multi-Storey Carpark. The initiative aimed to promote responsible waste management and encourage the public to actively participate in recycling efforts.
The event successfully collected a total of 3,336.29 kg of recyclable materials, consisting of 287.09 kg of plastic, 2,167.90 kg of paper, and 881.30 kg of electronic waste. The impressive turnout reflected the growing awareness and commitment of Bruneians toward sustainability and environmental conservation.
Beyond waste collection, the initiative served as an educational platform, raising awareness about the impact of improper waste disposal and the benefits of recycling. Organizers encouraged participants to adopt long-term waste reduction habits, reinforcing Brunei’s commitment to achieving SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
As the nation moves forward in its sustainability journey, efforts like the Recycling Drive-Thru play a crucial role in fostering a circular economy and reducing environmental impact. The public is encouraged to maintain their recycling habits and participate in future initiatives to ensure a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Brunei.
