The Sustainable Future Forum 2024, themed “Mission Possible: Game-Changing Ideas for a Sustainable Future”, was held on 26 September 2024 at the Rizqun International Hotel, Gadong. The event gathered over 300 participants from various industries and backgrounds to explore innovative strategies for sustainability.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd. Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II, Yang Mulia Pengiran Hajah Siti Nirmala binti Pengiran Haji Mohammad, Permanent Secretary (Wawasan) at the Prime Minister’s Office, underscored the collective responsibility of sustainability.
The forum featured an engaging open forum conversation titled “Staying Committed: How to Stay on Track and Optimistic”, where the SDG Secretariat was invited as a guest panelist. The session was moderated by Professor David Grayson, co-author of The Sustainable Business Handbook and a Board Member of Baiduri Bank based in the UK. The discussion highlighted the importance of resilience, adaptability, and long-term commitment in ensuring sustainable development remains a priority in all sectors.
Providing a platform for policymakers, business leaders and sustainability advocates to exchange ideas, the event reinforced Brunei’s long-term commitment to sustainability. Key discussions centered on renewable energy, waste management and the role of technology in achieving environmental goals. The forum also emphasized cross-sector collaboration as a critical driver of impactful change.
With sustainability becoming an urgent global priority, the forum served as a call to action for individuals and organizations to play their part in securing a greener and more resilient Brunei Darussalam.
